More Sleep For Kids Means Less Chance of Obesity

Not feeling well rested? Compared to twenty years ago, an increasing number of American adults, some estimates as high as seventy million, are getting no more than six hours of sleep per night.

It's recommended adults get seven to nine hours of sleep per night, with kids needing more.

For children, ten hours of sleep is recommended and not just for feeling rested in the morning. A study at the University of Michigan found that kids who don't get enough sleep have a sixty percent greater chance of being obese by middle school, than those who do get at least ten hours of sleep per night.
