Children two to six years old as well as women who are not very active - 5 servings: 2 fruits, 3 vegetablesOlder children, teen girls and men who are not very active - 7 servings: 3 fruits, 4 vegetables
Teen boys and active men and women - 9 servings: 4 fruits, 5 vegetables
People who get enough nutrition every day decrease their risk for disease, including heart disease, cancer and stroke. They also maintain memory function, eyesight, strong bones and more.
Keep in mind too little of our food is eaten raw. Cooking at temperatures over 120 degrees kills much of the nutrition in most foods. We're trying to achieve the impossible - maintain health while eating food that does not support health.
You may be thinking:
- "I don't have time to eat that many fruits and veggies every day."
- "I don't like buying, washing and cutting them up, only to see them rot in the fridge."
- "I simply don't like the taste of fruits and vegetables."

Do you know I can't really eat anything unless it has been thoroughly cooked? Can't even have a salad!
Hey Paul,
I'm charming_mary@hotmail.com
Cheers. You're kinda cool.
I'm guessing potato chips don't actually count as a vegetable...
You are going to love my post for today. You will probably steal it.
Have a terrific day. :)
What about Super women that can leap tall buildings in a single bound, Paul? Huh? What about us??? ;)
I could eat a horse! :D
Although I'm not a very active person, but I did consume up to 10 servings of fruits and veggies every day, Paul.
Very informative--we need to eat a lot more veggies and fruit than more of us currently do. Pops can help fill in the cracks...
And if potato chips counted, I'd be that much closer to my goal.
peace,
