Yes Paul, There Is A Santa Claus
I've always been an inquisitive kid. On a regular basis I would pester my mother, often asking life questions that many times have no answers. And one Christmas Eve, when I was in the third grade, I could stand it no longer. I had to know the truth about about Santa Clause.
I remember it like it was yesterday. Mom was brushing her teeth in the bathroom. I stood in the doorway, firing away. How did Santa manage to get into our house? How did he deliver all of those toys in one night? Did Santa and Jesus work together on all of this?
And finally, was Santa Claus really real?
Mom did her best to fend me off. She always had the gift of gab, even with a tooth brush in her mouth. And on this Christmas Eve morning, I was putting those skills to the ultimate test.
She rinsed out her mouth and slowly wiped it with a towel. I knew I had her this time, and she wasn't going to get away. Well?
Mom then lowered the boom. "If you don't believe in Santa, then you don't get anything."
What? I wouldn't get anything? What's a kid to believe?
From that day forward, I never again asked Mom about Santa Claus. I knew that was her final answer. And I believed.
Merry Christmas everybody!

That's a cute story. I can't remember when I first doubted the reality of Santa Claus, but I was always gullible. It didn't take much to convince me. I still like the idea of Santa delivering presents to everyone. I love to surprise people with gifts and just put "from Santa" on them.
Great story Paul! I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and a SAFE and Happy New Year!
Awww! Cute photo, too.
I wish you a Merry Christmas and may God bless you and yours. :)
Good tactic and it's similar to the one my wife and I have employed. My 12-year-old is certainly a scoffer (there's your "A Christmas Story" reference). However, he's certain Santa won't bring him a thing if he starts running his mouth in front of his little sister.
It's worked so far...
Merry Christmas, Paul!
Merry Christmas to all.
Hope and peace for this holiday season and for a fantastic 2009!
peace,

Happy Holidays!
That'll work! You can tell 'em that about the Tooth Fairy, too!
Will quiet them right down... ;)
Have a Merry Xmas, you, the wife, your fam, and the dog! ;)
Ho, ho, ho! :D
A story from the days when moms didn't mess around with psychology. I love it!
I had a very similar conversation with my kids. They are 19 and 15 now and still believe, ;)
Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you and your family! What a great Christmas story.
Oh. My. Goodness. How adorable!
You know what sux, though? You're obviously younger than me. I hate that.
Smart mom!
My mom burst into tears and totally blew her cover.
That's a fun story- I love your moms answers! Cute picture.
Hope you had a very Merry Christmas!
Believing is THE BEST!
LOL! My Mom used to say the same thing!
Well there's no better reason to believe than that right there! Nice try, though!
Simple and great answer from your mom, Paul :)
By the way, the little child in the pic is cute!
