Daddy and Brady
While I was in college, my grandfather was diagnosed with lung cancer. He wanted to spend his last days at home, so my mother took care of him along with help from Hospice. I came home on weekends as often as I could to help out. Eight painful months later, he died.
A few years later, a friend of mine who was a high school math teacher and baseball coach, died of leukemia. He was just thirty-two years old and left behind a wife who was eight months pregnant.
Not too long after that, my fifty-nine year-old father was diagnosed with severe emphysema. For eight long years, he was hooked up to an oxygen machine. During that time, he had a heart attack, developed diabetic symptoms as well as pancreatic and prostate cancer. On January 23, 2007, he died.
I have a friend who is now eighty-eight years old. But when she was seventy-five, Mrs. Gravely's health was so bad her family considered a full-time nurse. Then one day, a friend educated her about health and nutrition. So she changed her diet and added whole-food nutritional supplements to her daily routine. It took two years, but gradually Mrs. Gravely turned her health around - and never did get that nurse.
These experiences started me on the path of wanting to know more about nutrition and how it affects our health. I've read books, listened to audios and read online. Whenever I find something of interest to me, I try to post it on my blog.
I've been married for almost ten years. My wife and I now have a ten month-old baby boy. I want to do everything I can to protect the health of my family. And though I'm not yet a total health nut, one day I would like to be.

I came to believe in nutrition, when my sister was diagnosed with heart disease. I was so scared that I realized that I also needed to lose weight. So I looked up different websites and came across smartforlife.com. It said that I would eat cookies, "of course I thought this was ridiculous". But I am a junk food eater, so it intrigued me. I live to far from any center, so they offered a 2 week trial for only 134.00 with free shipping. This replaced my grocery bill for 14 days. Since then I have reordered the 5 week package which includes 1 free week. I was able to mix it up with shakes, soups and puddings as well. I have yet to get bored with the program, and it has been 10 and 1/2 weeks. I have lost 16 lbs according to my scale. I am very excited to continue my weightloss for the next 5 weeks, and further more excited to maintain my weight.
Are you a green tea drinker? I'm for good health, but why does the unhealthy food have to taste so much better?? It really makes it hard to eat healthy, plus unhealthy food seems to generally be quicker and easier to eat too!
You are on the right track! I have been able to get off my diabetes medicine and lost almost 30 lbs. by eating mostly raw food and drinking water instead of soda, coffee or milk. Keep up the good work and the healthy eating.
